Puppy!!

So along with buying a house Craig and I have been wanting to get a pet of some sort for a long while....so with the prospect of leaving our apartment we decided to adopt a puppy!
We adopted him on October 7th from the Weber County Animal Shelter. He is one years old and a Jack Russel Terrier mix, we decided to give him the name "Thor." Go ahead and laugh at his name but it is my little hero of sorts and actually tries to protect me when Craig is not at home!
He is such a good dog, already house trained thank goodness, and he may get really energetic and playful during the day when he gets attention but when Craig and I are busy he will go play with his toys or lay down on his bed and let us do what we need to get done.
He hardly ever barks and loves to cuddle with me all the time! I am super glad we decided to adopt him!

House Hunting Has Come to An End...

So for the past few weeks Craig and I have been "House Hunting" and has resulted with good results. The house hunting started by accident as well! We were just curious looking online at places to buy and me being unsmart put my cell number down on a relestate website so I could look at the houses! Well I was contacted by a wonderful gal named Candace who has ended up being great help to us!  We decided to just go and look, just for fun....we both fell in love with the looking at houses and wanted to do more, so that is what we did! After only two days of look at places, looking at about 9 houses we made a decision to place offers in on 3 townhouses that were short sales...meaning we would have to wait for answers on if our offers were accepted. So we thought we would leave it at that and then we had a bright idea to continue to look, just for some more fun and to see what is out there...that was just a little over a week ago and that is also when we found the perfect place for us to buy!
The place we have found is in Harrisville and is in a townhouse subdivision. It has three bedrooms and a big kitchen; it also comes with a one car garage attached to the house. It has two floors and has wood flooring on the first floor and carpet on the second floor. The window from the master bedroom faces the beautiful mountains, which Craig and I both love.
So our offer has been accepted, we are now under contract of buying this house...I'm nervous and excited and ready to get moving! We will close on our house October 20 and have keys October 21!

One Whole Year Together!!!

On September 10, 2010 Craig and I made the best decision of our lives...we got married, sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden temple. That was just a little over a year ago but it only seems like yesterday. This past year has been truly amazing, we have both grown a lot and still continue to learn a lot about each other. I am so glad that I made the decision to marry Craig, it was the best decision that I have ever made!
So since we have been married for a year, we decided to go to Park City to celebrate our one year anniversary and go down the Alpine slide since Craig has never done that before. Sadly our plans for the Alpine Slide got rained and hailed out once we had arrived in Park City. I was a little bummed because we couldn't do exactly what we had planned but Craig had an idea we could go to a movie instead, and that is what we did! We went to an small old movie theater to see "Planet of the Apes" which was actually good, and the theater only had about 8 rows in it, it was so tiny compared to the theaters here in Ogden!

After the movie we went to dinner at one of my favorite Mexican restaurant in Park City and then got ice cream at the Cold Stone Creamery. Even though plans didn't go as we thought they would Craig came up with a perfect idea and knew just what to do to keep me smiling! My husband is so wonderful and good to me and I am so grateful that we have the rest of eternity to spend with each other!

Life

This last week has been kind of a whirlwind with decision making for both Craig and I.  All of a sudden on a whim we decided to look at new places to live...not just any place to live, but a place that we can buy and actually call our home. Last Wednesday and Saturday we went around and started looking at places and found 3 that we absolutely love so yesterday we decided to place offers on all 3! There is no guarantee that we will get any of them because they are all short sales but there is a chance of us actually making our dream come true to owning a place of our own! Now that all 3 offers have been submitted we now have to wait...and wait until we hear something from the bank if they accept our offer! We will also continue to keep our eyes open for other places that we may love as well! 

Along with making a decision to find a place of our own I have decided to continue on with school after I get my Associates of Nursing and get my RN this December....I am going to start in the bachelor's program in January, I was very nervous when this thought first came to me but with the help of my wonderful husband and family they have helped me make the best decision, to continue my education. (If I didn't continue now I would probably never go back!) I am excited for this new adventure but really not looking forward to all of the homework that is going to come my way!

On another note about school, I just found out where my preceptor clinical's will be...I will be on ICU at Lakeview Hospital working the 7AM to 7PM shift, I am so very grateful that I don't have to be down there at 5AM!! I am excited to start but also very nervous....I take care of people who have had knee, hip, and back surgeries! Nursing clincal's have helped me expand my knowledge of taking care of patients but still I am nervous because by the end of my four weeks I will be taking care of the patients with the nurse following me! Just like Craig and my mother remind me each day, take it one day at a time and everything will work out and I will be fine! 

Craig and I are coming up on our 1 year anniversary this Saturday! I can't believe we have been married for a year, time really has flown by and it has been the best year ever! Having Craig by my side makes life that much more worth it, he is so good to me! I am so glad that Craig and I have eternity to spend together, I would be so lost if there was an end to marriage after death! Craig I love you more than anything in the world!! 

Labor Day Trip

This Labor Day Holiday my parents and siblings decided to take a trip up to Bearlake and they invited us to go along with them...this was not a trip where you take a drive up, it was a fourwheeling trip!
We were gone for about 7 hours, the totoal milage was 104 miles and the dirt road was crazy bumpy at times! The only reason we did this for was for fun and of course to go get shakes, which was definently worth it!
We left at 8AM and it was freezing on Monte Cristo...I had to wear 2 hoodies and a jacket underneath the 2 hoodies to stay warm and I was still cold!

By the time we reached Bear Lake it was nice and warm and sunny and we were all ready for a nice cold shake and cheeseburgers! We only stayed up there to eat and then left because some lady told us the cops would give us tickets if our fourwheelers didn't have license plates..so dumb!

Kate fell asleep in the razor and Craig slammed on the breaks and scared her half to death, it was so funny!!

The trip was a blast and the weekend was really enjoyable and not long enough...now it is back to reality and school...can't wait for the next big adventure with my wonderful hubby :)







Lava Hot Springs

The weekend before school started Craig's mom had made awesome plans for us to all go up to Lava Hot Springs to have some fun. Grandma and Grandpa Merrill, Aunt Wendy and all of her family and all of Craig's family were able to make it up there! It was really fun to get together and go swimming, play with baby Harper and to just enjoy hanging out with each other. Craig and I along with his parents and Kyle all arrived at the rented out house Thursday afternoon, everyone else was able to make it up by the end of Friday!
On Friday we went swimming at the pool, it was crowded but a lot of fun! I was even daring enough to go down the two really big, steep water slides....I also vowed to never go down them ever again!

We all floated down the river on Saturday, it was fun but we all got beat up or lost something on the few trips down that were made!

Being able to have a weekend away with the family was great, a wonderful stress reliever and it was way fun! I did learn something that I am going to have to work on adapting to...Craig's family loves to stay up late playing games! That was very difficult for me and I still went to bed way before everyone else did, my goal for the next family trip is to be able to stay up late and play games with everyone and not fall asleep doing so! :)

Car Update

So as one of my last posts talked about our car being stolen I thought it would be nice to update all of you on its status!
The Saturday after our car was stolen it was found abandoned in a old business parking lot. It had been dropped off by the person who stole it while the owners of the business where out to lunch. My mom was the first to receive a phone call saying that the car had been found and she then she got in touch with Craig and I to tell us the news. The news of our car being found was bitter sweet, we found out that it had been found right as we were walking out of the temple. I was happy that the car was found but at the same time I didn't want to see the car or get the car back because someone had stolen it and done who knows what to it!
We quickly drove to meet my parents at the place were our car was found, once we saw it we noticed that there was not very horrible damage to it, the engine was still intact so that is a plus. The floor mats, stereo face plate, and steering wheel cover were stolen; also my GPS and the owners manual and a few burned CD's had been stolen along with Craig's softball gear.  The jerk had jammed a key into the ignition and it was stuck in place so that we could not turn the car on or off or even pull the key out! Then the man had proceeded to wreck the car by spraying something that felt like cooking oil all over the inside of the car and the handles of the car on the outside.
When I saw what he had done all of the feelings that had surfaced when we had found out the car was stolen surfaced again, I was mad, frustrated and sad all at the same time...not good emotions to have all together.
Our insurance company is working with us to get the car put back together and fixed up to look like new but it is going to take a little while to do that so for now we are borrowing our parents cars.
One more update which I'm sure everyone will be glad to hear about, the man who stole our car was caught this past Sunday and booked into jail. He pleaded guilty to stealing our car and 9 other cars as well...that will be a hefty charge on his head! The police caught the man driving a car that he had stolen!
To say the least I feel very grateful that they caught the man who stole our car and gave us both feelings of vulnerability, I will be able to sleep a little better knowing that he is behind bars and can't do any more harm to anyone else
